When I was younger, I bought into the myth that those who are the most devoted to the Gospel and enthusiastic about God — those who are serious about their faith — went into full-time ministry.

I felt like I wasn’t living up to God’s full potential because of this, which made me feel ‘un-purposeful’. I considered quitting my business and career pursuits to go to Bible School, which at the time I did.

In my opinion, if I continued in business, I would be a second-class Christian whose work would be tainted by affiliations to the secular world. I used to believe that God considered all business and career people to be worldly and inconsequential for the advancement of His kingdom.

In my adult years, I started to witness committed Christians who were running successful businesses and enjoying successful careers while promoting God’s interest in their work. From that point on, I began to see why I had been called into the “Kingdom business.”

Since then, I’ve discovered that my work and profession are just as important to God as the preacher’s ministry. The kingdom of God permeates all spheres of life. I have the chance via my work to show the power and love of God in unexpected ways.

I recently read an experience of a business person who shared a similar Christians struggle with their faith because they believe “their career and business” is unpleasing and irrelevant to God.

This revealed the number of Christians who have reined in their creativity and haven’t used it to its fullest because they think anything they do outside of church is worthless and unworthy in God’s eyes.

Dear believer working in business or the office, your work is neither meaningless nor trivial. You are pursuing God’s divine purpose in your life. God is at peace knowing that you are on the field stewarding men to His kingdom.

You’re on the field to proof the excellency of the father in all things. Your goal on the field is to make fame the name of your father. You are there to demonstrate the father’s superiority in all things. Your work will spread to nations and they will call on the name of God because they did business with.

Dear believer, you have a great work wherever he has planted you. Keep fulfilling purpose.

“Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do super-abundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us”

Ephesians 3:20 (AMP)
